cycling: Lennard Kämna gives up at the Vuelta a España

September 6, 2017 by Michael Behringer

Kamna Sunweb

Cycling: Yesterday, Lennard Kämna delivered in the time trial 16st stage a strong performance, today he dropped out at the Vuelta a España. The German pro from Team Sunweb has problems with his right knee.

“The risk was just too great”

"It's a real shame, but we had to make this decision. He has a problem with his right knee and we want to be careful with young drivers. He got on his bike, but the risk was just too big. He had been in pain for days before. On the rest day it got better. The time trial then went surprisingly well, but a time trial over 40 kilometers and a mountain stage are very different strains.” This is what Marc Reef - Sunweb's sporting director - told radsport-news.com.

Knee discomfort forces @lennardkaemna to leave # LV2017 after stage 16.
