Market: The Fidlock brand has already made a name for itself among connoisseurs with its innovative closures. Now there is a special system for cyclists that combines bottle and bottle cage. The Fidlock bottle is held firmly on the bike by magnets and a locking mechanism.
The principle behind the Fidlock technology is relatively easy to explain: a small holder, like a normal bottle holder, is attached to the frame with the two screws supplied. It takes 2 minutes and is very easy. In the black bracket there are two small but strong magnets and a mechanical locking mechanism. There is a matching counterpart on the bottle, which also has magnetic surfaces and a grid mechanism.
The special Fidlock bottle is then not inserted into the bottle holder from above as usual, but rather guided to the side of the frame. If you get close enough, the magnets will intervene and do their job by attracting the bottle. Unfortunately, only right-handed people can really enjoy the advantage, since the mechanism is best to be triggered from the right side and the left side would have to reach almost through the entire triangle of the frame. A clear clicking noise signals that the bottle is securely locked in the holder.
From a visual point of view, the bottle sits very inconspicuously on the bike, as it is not covered by any brackets and the neutral look means that it goes with (almost) every bike. During the ride, the bottle sits firmly in place and is held firmly in the holder on both the road bike and the MTB. Rough ground, cobblestones or bumps on the trails don't bother the bottle. Despite the good holding power while driving, the bottle can be easily removed from the holder by turning it and easily attached again thanks to the magnetic force. The big advantage here is that you are "guided" by the magnet and can attach the bottle optimally without looking, without having to take your eyes off the road or the trail. Unfortunately, with such a system, the compatibility is very limited and no other bottles can be used.
The bottles themselves are of very high quality and have a capacity of 600 ml. The closure of the bottle is tight and the mouthpiece has a pleasantly large opening. For a total of 34,99 you get a bottle including holder in a set, certainly a proud price but a great alternative to the usual bottle holder, especially for all non-racing drivers who have to constantly change the bottle.
