Clothing: Test: BH Bikes EVO Enduro helmet – the newcomer at an entry-level price

16 November 2017 by Thomas Rieger

Test: The Basque bicycle manufacturer BH Bikes may already be known to some when it comes to bicycles. Most of the equipment required for this is also offered to customers in-house. The really low price of the BH Bikes EVO Enduro helmet made me curious and so I quickly tested the head protection from the helmet sector newcomer.

BH Bikes Evo

In order to guarantee both optimal protection and reasonable ventilation, the BH Bikes EVO Enduro is made of polycarbonate using in-mold technology. As is typical for an enduro helmet, the back of the head and the side areas are pulled far down to ensure the best possible all-round protection for the head. The helmet is fixed with a twist lock, which can also be adjusted in height. A total of 17 ventilation openings ensure proper ventilation on hot days. The front openings are even closed with a net, which should prevent enemy contact with insects. A one-piece upholstery ensures the necessary wearing comfort, which, in comparison to multi-part variants, saves you fiddling around after washing. Depending on its size, the EVO Enduro tips the scales at a light-footed 300g.

The helmet visor makes a flexible impression, which means it should be able to stand up to one or the other fall. In addition, it is removable. The visor does not offer an adjustment option and unfortunately protrudes somewhat into the field of vision. The helmet does not offer integrated solutions for attaching headlamps or helmet cams, which is why, like me, you have to be content with adhesive pad solutions. In view of the very low price one shouldn't complain about that in my opinion.

The helmet makes a good impression on the trail and conveys a high sense of security. The fit of the BH Bikes EVO Enduro is good and the light weight also has a positive effect. I quickly got used to the slightly protruding visor, so it wasn't a major disruptive factor for me. The helmet also doesn't need to hide visually and makes a higher quality impression than the price might suggest.

Other specifications:

  • available in sizes SM and L-XL
  • available in the colors black-grey and blue-orange
  • Weight approx. 300g depending on size

Conclusion: BH Bikes EVO enduro helmet
