Product news: This year, Continental presented its new Mountain King tire - not at a bicycle fair, but at the OutDoor in Friedrichshafen, where the who's who of the outdoor scene meets every year. Why does a tire manufacturer present its product to the public there? This is due in particular to the close cooperation with Adidas, which is now bearing the first obvious fruits in the form of the Mountain King.
If you look at the profile of the new tire from Continental, you will inevitably be reminded of a shoe sole - if you know the Adidas Terrex shoes, you know exactly where you got your inspiration from. The lugs have a very unusual shape for tires and are beveled in the direction of travel. In general, you want to fill the niche between All Mountain and Enduro - so definitely made for an aggressive riding style without having to make too many compromises in terms of rolling resistance. Compared to its predecessor, the new tire is said to offer around 10% less rolling resistance.
Of course, Continental's Black Chili Compound is also used here again - the rubber compound has proven itself for many years and knows how to convince again and again with very good grip and great durability.
