Product news: Advent Calendar #13: Rapha Classic Jersey II and Insulated Brevet Gilet

December 12, 2017 by the editorial team

Rapha Classic Jersey II

When Rapha announced some time ago that the venerable Classic Jersey was to have a successor, the manufacturer's fans were skeptical. No wonder: the original Classic Jersey was the British manufacturer's very first product and for over a decade it was the undisputed bestseller in the steadily growing range. But time does not stand still and technical progress does not stop at a traditional company like Rapha. Nevertheless: With the new Classic Jersey II, one could master the demanding balancing act and present a modern, technically advanced jersey that still clearly and openly displays its cult roots.

Possibly the biggest innovation compared to its predecessor is the material: The new Classic Jersey II consists of a blended fabric of polyester and merino wool. Wait a minute...wool in a sporty jersey from Rapha? Anyone who holds the noble jersey in their hands will see that this is not a contradiction in terms. The material, called RPM150, is extremely light and elastic and at the same time breathable, quick-drying and inhibits the odor of sweat. Instead of seams, the individual components of the jersey are now glued - this not only saves weight, but also reduces the risk of possible pressure points.

Rapha Insulated Brevet Gilet

Each of us knows that it doesn't matter how good the weather may be on the descent at home - to set off without the appropriate preparations for possible weather changes, cold winds or temperature drops is courageous and often enough catches the eye. The problem: where to put it? Warming garments are often not known for their small pack size. The Insulated Brevet Gilet is a good compromise here: thanks to the Polartec filling on the front and back, the sporty vest warms you up comfortably and, above all, quickly, but it can also be packed up small and stowed in the jersey pocket. Clever: An elastic band is hidden in the collar, which further reduces the pack size.
