cycling: Cycling in February: These are the highlights for next month

30 January 2018 by Michael Behringer

Cycling February Omloop

Cycling: And there it is January almost over. The first highlights in cycling are already behind us. But now the peloton is really picking up speed. Although there are only two WorldTour events in February, most of the stars of the scene will already be competing with each other in various races.

Cycling in February: The stars of the scene show up

February is the month of cycling – at least in the ranking of the Pro Continental teams. Because there are numerous HC races on the roster that bring powerful points. But the second division teams also have to compete with a number of top stars from the WorldTour. For example, at the Dubai tour Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida), Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data) and Marcel Kittel (Katusha-Alpecin) are at the start. The next WorldTour points are at the Abu Dhabi tour from February 21st to 25th. Among others, the two top German sprinters Marcel Kittel and André Greipel (Lotto Soudal) will meet here, but Fabio Aru (UAE Team Emirates) and Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb) will also be pedaling here. The classic season opened Omloop Het Nieuwsblad with last year's winner Greg van Avermaet (BMC), Tiesj Benoot (Lotto Soudal) and Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors). With a lot of momentum we are already racing into March...
