Spectrum / MTB News: On June 09th and 10th, 2018 the MTB Festival Sachsensee will take place for the second time. Ambitious endurance mountain bikers can look forward to the new long distance at the MTB marathon. With a length of more than 96 kilometers, the route leads through the enchanting landscape of the Rofan and Karwendel mountains.
Exciting competitions for young and old mountain bikers are also firmly in the program for the second edition of the MTB Festival Achensee. The highlight of the event is the MTB marathon, which is part of the Ritchey Mountain Bike Challenge. The new long-distance route with 96,5 kilometers and 3470 meters in altitude is aimed at ambitious bikers who are always looking for new challenges. In addition to the supreme discipline, four other routes with lengths between 31,5 kilometers and 77,1 kilometers are offered. E-mountain bikers have three routes in their own category.
In contrast to last year, the MTB marathon will take place on Saturday this time. Particularly ambitious marathon riders can pedal again on Sunday in the MTB mountain sprint race. In contrast to the marathon, the motto here is "Short, steep, fast"! A 4,8 kilometer long route with 480 meters of altitude difference awaits the drivers in the mountain sprint. If that's not steep enough for you, you can prove yourself in the Uphill Contest: 70 meters with an incline of up to 30% require special driving skills. E-mountain bikers are also eligible to start in all three competitions in their own category.
The kids are also challenged at the MTB Festival Achensee 2018. The very youngest rookies up to the age of five can get a taste of racing at the impeller race. The Kids' Cup awaits the up-and-coming stars from the age of five. Speed, skill and bike control are equally important on the 1,5 km long course. The MTB Festival Achensee 2018 will be completed by a large bike expo in the start and finish area in Achenkirch. The organizer expects 1500 marathon participants this year alone.
