cycling: Tropicale Amissa Bongo: Nikodemus Holler moves up to #2

18 January 2018 by Michael Behringer

Nicodemus Holler Tropicale Amissa Bongo

Cycling: At the La Tropicale Amissa Bongo tour, there was again no mass sprint today. Four riders, including Nikodemus Holler (Bike Aid), crossed the finish line with a lead of over seven minutes. The German finished third in the stage behind Joseph Areruya (Rwanda) and Ilia Koshevoy (Wilier Triestina-Selle Italia) and is now #2 in the overall standings.

Holler now with good cards

Since there have not been any major time gaps at La Tropicale Amissa Bongo so far, a preliminary decision was made today. On the 182-kilometer and quite bumpy section from Ndjolé to Mitzic, four riders were able to break away from the peloton and cross the finish line by more than seven minutes. Joseph Areruya (Rwanda) finally proved to be the strongest of the quartet and won the two-man sprint against Ilia Koshevoy (Wilier Triestina Selle Italia). Nicodemus Holler (Bike Aid) crossed the finish line nine seconds after the duo, Damian Gaudin (Direct Energy) 38 seconds. The first larger group only arrived seven minutes and 42 seconds after the stage winner. This should set the course for the overall ranking. Areruya leads 34 seconds ahead of Holler, 80 ahead of Gaudin and XNUMX ahead of Koshevoy. The German is within striking distance and has the best chance of getting the yellow jersey.
