cycling: Voeckler believes motor doping was used - perhaps by Armstrong

31 January 2018 by Michael Behringer

Armstrong Voeckler motor doping

Cycling: Thomas Voeckler wrote in the French newspaper Le Parisien commented on mechanical doping. The Frenchman therefore believes in the use of motor doping in professional cycling. When asked about Lance Armstrong, the 38-year-old also said: "Did Armstrong use it? Nothing would shock me anymore with him.”

Armstrong could also have cheated with engines, says Voeckler

is 17 years long Thomas Voeckler been traveling in the peloton. He was there three times when lance Armstrong won the Tour de France. In the French newspaper Le Parisien the Frenchman commented on the subject of motor doping. Apparently, Voeckler thinks motors have been used in the past - possibly even by Lance Armstrong.

Thomas Voeckler:
“When people started talking about it, I had to laugh and wonder what else they've found to hurt cycling. But later I saw various reports. Now I'm convinced that some have taken us for fools and used an engine. Did Armstrong use it? Nothing would shock me anymore with him.”

Voeckler believes the motor doping problem has been eliminated

Last year Thomas Voeckler drove the Tour de France. Now he works for French television. Although he believes that in the past mechanical doping was used to achieve better results, he now suspects that the problem of motor doping has been eliminated. At the UCI, however, one is not so sure, because David Lappartient wants to introduce five new technologies in March, to ban motor doping from the peloton.

Thomas Voeckler:
"I don't think that's been there since they started testing. It is a form of doping that is not difficult to eradicate.”

Topic of discussion: Does motor doping exist in professional cycling?
