For this year, the Clasica Almeria was upgraded by the UCI to a 1st HC race - victory in this small premiere ultimately went to the fast Australian Caleb Ewan (Mitchelton-Scott), who once again demonstrated his great sprint qualities, and Danny van Poppel (Team LottoNL-Jumbo) and Timothy Dupont (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) relegated to their places. The 185km route through Andalusia in southern Spain started with a bumpy profile and some tough climbs. However, the final 50km were mostly flat.

Michael Schwarzmann from BORA-hansgrohe just missed the top 12 of the day in a good 10th place. It was Ewan's second win of the season after his stage win at the local Tour Down Under.

Moreno Moser celebrated his first win of the season at the Italian one-day race Trofeo Laigueglia. The 27-year-old prevailed over his two compatriots Paolo Totò (Sangemini - MG.Kvis) and Matteo Busato (Willier Triestina - Selle Italia) at the end of the slightly more than 200km in northwestern Italy. It is Moser's second success at the Trofeo Laigueglia, which has been held since 1964, after winning in 2012. After a strong performance on the bumpy circuit that had to be completed four times at the end of the race, Moser crossed the finish line first without any problems. The Astana pro started the race in a home country in the jersey of the Italian team - so his triumph does not mean Astana's second win of the season after yesterday Luis Leon Sanchez could celebrate at the Vuelta a Murcia.
Roland Thalmann from Team Vorarlberg not only got the penultimate mountain classification, but also sprinted to an impressive eighth place in the tough final.
