Cycling: Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Merida) celebrated his first win of the season. In the difficult finish of the fourth stage of the Dubai Tour, he sprinted ahead of Magnus Cort Nielsen (Astana) and Rimo Roosen (LottoNL-Jumbo) to win the day. In the overall standings, his compatriot Elia Viviani (Quick-Step Floors) remains in the lead.

Colbrelli wins, Cort Nielsen impresses
Even in Dubai, things aren't always perfectly flat. Today, the peloton had to sprint up a small hill at the end of the stage. Before the race, experts wondered how well the pure sprinters would perform. Now we have the answer. Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Merida), a sprinter who thrives on hills, took the win. Magnus Cort Nielsen (Astana) put in a particularly strong performance. The Dane was in a poor position but proved to be the fastest rider in the final meters. However, the Italian stage winner was already too far ahead. Third place went to Timo Roosen (LottoNL-Jumbo), a relatively unknown rider. The 25-year-old Dutchman primarily acts as a lead-out man for his captain, Dylan Groenewegen.

Viviani remains overall leader
There almost wasn't a sprint from the peloton today. American Brandon McNulty (Rally Cycling) was leading solo just before the finish line. He was only overtaken in the final meters, first by Italians Sonny Colbrelli and Giacomo Nizzolo (Trek-Segafredo), then by the rest of the pack. Swiss rider Tom Bohli (BMC) once again demonstrated his good form with a seventh-place finish, while Elia Viviani (Quick-Step Floors), wearing the leader's jersey, even managed to finish sixth. This means the Italian continues to lead the overall standings. The two German stars, Marcel Kittel (Katusha-Alpecin) and John Degenkolb (Trek-Segafredo), had no chance. Kittel, in particular, visibly struggled, as was hard to hide when he crossed the finish line.
