Cycling: Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) has won another race. The Spaniard was the first to cross the line at the Gran Premio Miguel Indurain ahead of compatriot Carlos Verona (Mitchelton-Scott). Tomorrow Valverde will not be at the start of the Tour of Flanders. The Slovenian Jan Tratnik (CCC Sprandi Polkowice) was also able to win today. He won the Volta Limburg Classic one-day race.
Valverde also leaves Verona
On Wednesday, Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) made everyone sit up and take notice at the Dwars door Vlaanderen one-day race. The Spaniard tested his skills on cobblestones and finished eleventh in a sensational way. Many fans then hoped that Valverde would start at the Tour of Flanders on Easter Sunday. But instead of struggling over the cobblestones again, Alejandro Valverde chose today's Gran Premio Miguel Indurain one-day race to once again demonstrate his strength. First he broke away together with Carlos Verona (Mitchelton-Scott) about 15 kilometers before the finish, before he simply left his companion behind. So Valverde arrived as a soloist in Estella and can already celebrate his ninth win of the season.

Tratnik wins – companion Riesebeek with a spectacular rollover
A one-day race was also held in the Netherlands today. At the Volta Limburg Classic, Jan Tratnik (CCC Sprandi Polkowice) won in the sprint of a leading group. Previously, the Slovenian had broken away together with the Dutchman Oscar Riesebeek (Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij). This fell on the rain-soaked road in a curve and overturned spectacularly. From then on, Tratnik was on the road as a soloist before he was caught by a few pursuers. In the sprint he still won the race.
