With the Kasberg Inferno, the Reverse Components Snowmill Cup powered by Lines goes into the summer break with a memorable conclusion. 95 participants, including 6 girls, wanted to do it again in bright sunshine and perfect snow conditions and threw themselves down the 3 km long Madlries descent after a Le Mans mass start. If you believe the numerous GPS watches, speeds of up to 90 km/h were reached on the demanding downhill run.
After two training rides were allowed to be completed, the girls made the start and conquered the Kasberg together. Elke Rabeder was the best with a time of 4:30 minutes ahead of Helene Fruhwirth and Lisa Kronberger. The women's overall ranking went to Nina Hofer, followed by Franziska Leitner and Helene Fruhwirth.
Shortly thereafter, the men's starting line-up was lined up, although the track was hardly wide enough to line up all the bikes in a row for the Le Mans start. After the bikes had been set up, there was still impatient waiting and as soon as the starting signal sounded, it started and the bunch started moving.
For the men, it was all about the overall ranking, which was open until the end. Bernd Dorrong, who unfortunately couldn't take part in the race, was already seeded in third place. However, the victory still had to be won between me and Marcel Ziegler before the noble trophies could be distributed. After the start couldn't have gone better, I was unfortunately thrown off my bike before the first corner and half the starting field rushed past me. The race to catch up was slowed down by two more body contacts and the resulting falls. In the end with rank 18 the worst result of this winter season. Luckily, Marcel didn't fare much better and he too could hardly collect any points with 11th place, which meant that in the end I was able to win overall after a total of 7 races.
Andreas Viehböck won the Kasberg Inferno, as usual with a knife between his teeth, ahead of Peter Fernbach and Daniel Koisser.
Right in the middle instead of just reading it's back to the moving race report.
If you feel like taking part in one or the other race of this kind next winter, it can already be said that work is already being done on the next snow blower series 18/19. I'm now going to take a short spring break before I'll start again in mid-May.
