Product news: Forestal: Not just a stem - insider tip from Spain

23 May 2018 by Christian Ettl

Market: We spotted the stylish Forestal stem for the first time a few weeks ago on the bike of pivot man Volker Knaus. It was me! The optics are great, it is well made and what's more Made in Barcelona. Since I really appreciate it when thinkers implement their ideas themselves and thus become doers, I would like to introduce you to Forestal.

The Forestal ATS 45
The Forestal ATS 45, independent and robust.

I had to have such a part, so I asked Volker to put me in touch with Forestal. I quickly got into conversation with Dani Trius. Forestal Bike SL is a very small company based in Barcelona, Spain. At the moment their main product is the Forestal ATS45 stem. It is made of AL7075 T6 and gets titanium screws, more precisely, Ti-6 screws.

3 colors of the Forestal stem
There is a choice of black matt, black gloss and silver.
Rainbow colored screws
The stem comes with titanium screws, the matte version with screws in rainbow colors.

The ATS 45 costs a whopping €159,95. Not a bargain price, but reasonable, because the stem is made in the heart of Barcelona and all the steps are carried out here. The CNC milling work and the subsequent deburring. The guys polish every single part by hand. Anodizing, laser marking and assembly are all done by the Forestal people themselves.

We strive to bring something new with a special and different character. We also want to incorporate human values and insist on good wages and less pollution. We rely on local production and quality control.[/testimonial]

Forestal isn't making much money at the moment, but it's a hobby for them and they believe in long-term growth. Dani says: "it has to work if you love what you do!" In addition to the stem, there is also a mudguard, caps, socks and a jersey.

Forestal Mud Party Mud Flaps
There are a few goodies from Forestal, such as the "Mud Party" mud flap.
