Product news: For a few months, professional cycling has been talking about the Innsbruck World Championship route. Many athletes and experts describe the course as the toughest ever. You too will soon have the opportunity to experience the road world championship up close on Zwift, because the route will be available on the online training platform from August.
Cyclists from all over the world will soon be able to actively participate in the UCI Road World Championships in Innsbruck-Tyrol. Of course not a hit, but at least on Zwift, the worldwide training platform for cyclists. Because together with the organizers of the Innsbruck-Tyrol Road World Championships, they have joined forces to publish the 2018 UCI Road World Championships Zwift course as Official Supplier.

In contrast to the purely inner-city course of the 2018 World Cup in Richmond, the 2015 World Cup course on Zwift contained an alpine touch. At one of the most mountainous world championships in cycling history, Zwift can be used as the ideal preparation tool for professionals and amateurs alike to familiarize themselves with the course. Which fan hasn't dreamed of driving down the routes of the pros?!
Zwift's Innsbruck course is expected to focus on the 24km 'Olympic Lap', which will be completed seven times by the men and three times by the women in the road race. The route includes an 8km climb and crosses the picturesque old town of Innsbruck.
It's a course we haven't seen in this form at the UCI Road World Championships in years and, in its translated form, represents something incredible for the Zwift community. It will be fantastic to ride alongside Worlds competitors exploring the course on Zwift. I can barely wait for it! – Eric MIn, CEO and co-founder of
Zwift.
The timing of the release of the Innsbruck Tirol course on Zwift means that professionals will actually be able to use Zwift as a training tool to prepare. Course familiarization via track simulation is a very common training method in Formula 1, which can now be used in cycling for the first time and where the professional cyclists can benefit from the preparation and training just as much as their motorsport colleagues do. But it is also very interesting for the fans to get to know the track in this way, because if you know how the track drives, you can have a say in front of the TV when the showdown takes place.
This project has the potential to be a game changer for national teams. The favorites will definitely be making track checks in the coming months as this is so common. What's new is the ability to repeatedly train on the key piece and explore the best moments to attack. For riders like me, who have a supporting role at the World Championships, it will be important to understand when these attacks could happen and to ensure that our team leaders are in the best position. And it's extremely motivating to train with Zwifters around the world. – Bernhard Eisel.
The new 2018 UCI Road World Championships Innsbruck-Tirol course will live on on Zwift long after September's World Championships, so you can still do enough laps at a later date.
