Hello dear readers,
My name is Luke Wilk and I've been a junior athlete at SSV Gera 2013 eV since 1990. I am now in the first year of the U19 age group and will tell you how the month of May went for me from a sporting point of view.
On May 01st, a small highlight of the season was on the agenda. Not only that Eschborn - Frankfurt is the only cycling classic still held in Germany, but it was also a Bundesliga race for us. So I was highly motivated at the start. Unfortunately, I was already involved in a fall at kilometer 13 of 115. After two wheel changes, many kilometers behind the car and many missed grains, I found the field again two kilometers before the Feldberg. At 43km I fell for the second time and that was the end of the race for me.
Five days later, the Thuringian state championship in road racing took place in Greiz. I missed the gold medal there because I couldn't follow the eventual winner Tim Oehlke on the mountain with 1 ½ laps to go.
From 11th to 13th On May 2st I competed in a tour in Poland, where another SSV athlete, Jannis Peter, was at the start. After the prologue, in which there were no large time gaps, a nine-kilometer time trial was on the program on Saturday morning, which was very bumpy. Here Jannis was able to take a strong 26nd place and I was 80th. The second half-stage in the evening covered another 15 kilometers. In this road race I was 36th in the mass sprint and Jannis was 105th. On the last day it was another 4 kilometers hilly. Jannis, who was 2th overall, asked me to close the holes for him. I served him for as long as I could. After the tracking work was done, Jannis' attack was successful. Because he finished in 2nd place and was also able to move up to XNUMXnd place in the overall ranking.
On May 19th, the Thuringian state championship in the individual time trial took place in Magdala. Here I was again, as in the LVM road, second.
On Whit Monday I was at the start in Borsum near Lower Saxony. Here I was able to get 4th place in the final sprint.
The next Bundesliga race then took place in Karbach on May 27th. In very hot temperatures we had to cover 122 kilometers with almost 1400 meters in altitude. The field was fragmented into many small groups. In the end I was 25th. Between all the bike races, a relatively large number of basic kilometers were unwound, but of course there were also one or the other easy training ride to recover. Now we're training hard again because the German Road Championships are taking place on June 17th, and we want to do well there.
Greetings Luke
