The reason for this is the company's entry into the e-bike market. Visitors to Friedrichshafen will be presented, among other things, "Carl 280" and "Carla 180", two new e-folding bikes whose innovative folding mechanism should enable them to be folded up in just five seconds.
The specialist for car multimedia and navigation solutions enters the e-bike market. Blaupunkt offers urban e-cyclists four models. The two e-folding bikes "Carl 280" and "Carla 180" have an aluminum frame that can be folded to a minimum in just five seconds. While Carla rolls on 16" wheels, Carl has the slightly larger 20" wheels. Both folding bikes are equipped with a 250 watt electric motor that generates a torque of 35 Newton meters. A 280 Wh LG lithium-ion battery is responsible for the energy supply, and Blaupunkt specifies a range of 50 to 70 kilometers. The battery should be fully charged again after 3,5 hours.
The system offers the driver five driving modes for support up to a speed of 25 km/h. The "Carl 280" e-folding bike is completed by a 7-speed Shimano SIS gear system, a suspension fork and mechanical disc brakes, "Carla 180" is equipped with a rigid fork and rim brakes. According to the information, the weight is 13,8 kilograms (Carla 180) or 17,7 kilograms (Carl 280). In addition to the "Carl 280" and "Carla 180", visitors can also take a first look at two other electrified innovations from Blaupunkt: the 20" step-through "Clara 290" and the "Carlson 20", which also rolls on 390" and has an extra-large battery .
