Product news: BAFANG - E-mobility from China to the world

August 22, 2018 by the editorial office

E-Performance: With the aim of manufacturing innovative and high-quality products, BAFANG has developed into a global player and reliable manufacturer in the field of e-mobility in its ten-year history. The headquarters of Team BAFANG, which now has 300 employees, is in Suzhou. Due to the proximity to Shanghai, the prerequisite for a good connection to international markets is given and the branches in the Netherlands, USA and Germany can be well supplied. BAFANG has been represented here since 2012. 40 engineers are researching and developing "pioneering products" and want to "set new standards" according to BAFANG's chairman and managing director Qinghua Wang. The sales trend proves them right and by positioning themselves in the European and American markets, BAFANG has become one of the leading suppliers of drive systems in the industry.

BAFANG: System and component provider

In addition to motors, BAFANG offers a complete system portfolio for e-bikes and e-scooters, including user-friendly control units (HMI), rechargeable batteries/batteries and sensors as individual components or complete systems. Connectors and controllers complement the portfolio. All of these components can be found in a wide variety of drive systems, which are not only installed in e-bikes, but also in e-kickboards or e-tricycles. When it comes to drive systems for e-bikes, the portfolio is very extensive and there is the right concept for every application. It doesn't matter whether it's a front, middle or rear engine, factory installed or retrofitted.

BAFANG: Largest selection of mid-engines

In the area of mid-motors, there are eight different drive systems to choose from, which differ in the combination of components. Basically, there are two performance classes of the motor to choose from, each with 200 watts nominal power or 250 watts nominal power. A further differentiation can be found in the battery type. Here you can choose between a battery integrated in the frame or a rear carrier battery. These are available in a power range from 200 watts to 600 watts. Thanks to this variety, the right drive can be selected for every type of bicycle and purpose.

BAFANG: Interesting and yet not very common, the front engine

An interesting type of drive that is not very common in Europe is the front engine. Here, the pedaling effort is determined via a torque sensor in the crank axle and forwarded to the motor integrated in the front wheel via a corresponding control module. The two front motor variants each have an output of 250 watts. As with the central motor, the batteries can either be integrated into the frame or installed in the rear carrier, so there are three different variants to choose from with 200 watts, 340 watts or 450 watts.

BAFANG: rear engine, tradition and innovation

The history of the e-bike began with the rear drive and BAFANG continues this tradition with constant development. With a motor installed in the rear wheel, there are six different drive variants to choose from. Three engine outputs are used: 250 watts, 350 watts and 500 watts. The motors are powered by 200 watt, 250 watt, 450 watt and 600 watt batteries.

BAFANG: Ideal retrofit option with BBS motors

A very simple retrofitting option is the BAFANG BBS drive systems. Here a motor is attached to the existing 68mm BB bottom bracket on the down tube. Here, too, the batteries can either be attached to the frame or to the rear carrier and are available with an output of 370 watts, 450 watts or 600 watts. The BB motors have an output between 250 watts and 700 watts and are therefore the most powerful in the BAFANG portfolio.

BAFANG: Large selection and versatile combinable

All batteries have a quick charge function and are fully charged in 2,5 to 5,5 hours, depending on capacity. The range in turn results from the combination with the engine power. All control units have a high-contrast display, so the information is still clearly visible even in direct sunlight. The drive systems are operated via a separate control unit that is mounted on the handlebars within easy reach, so no dangerous changing of your grip is necessary while driving. Motors, batteries and displays are largely compatible with each other, so you can start with a BAFANG drive on the bike and the components can be individually adjusted over time. All parts and components are also available individually from BAFANG.

Bafang

And finally ...

BAFANG offers what is probably the most extensive portfolio in the field of electric drives on bicycles. As a hobbyist, you will find a versatile selection of components and drives for retrofitting. As a manufacturer, you also have the opportunity to find the most suitable selection of components for your bike and all from a single source.
