August 2, 2018 by Andrew Waldera

MTB News: Tomorrow in four weeks the Bike Festival Saalfelden Leogang will take place for the first time. As part of the event, a new race format for everyone is also celebrating its premiere: The Ghost Recon Ride in and around the Bikepark Leogang is a fun orienteering race in which the participants have to complete certain points.

The first edition of the Austrian offshoot of the Bike Festival event family is not stingy with racing for professionals and amateurs. In addition to the well-known highlights such as the Rocky Mountain Bike Marathon, the Scott Enduro Series and the Scott Junior Trophy, there will also be a new race format. The Ghost Recon Ride is an orienteering race for everyone, in which the participants have to drive along points marked on a map using a GPS transponder. Skill and driving skills must also be put to the test at four different stations.

The race is held both in and around the Bikepark Leogang. The start is always in pairs at a distance from the next two participants at the mountain station of the Asitzbergbahn. Mountain bikers from the age of 18 are admitted, but young people from the age of 16 may participate if accompanied by a legal guardian and with a corresponding declaration of consent. The Ghost Recon Ride is evaluated separately in a men's and women's ranking. The entry fee is 29,00 euros.
