Product news: Product News: Cannondale Topstone 2019

August 24, 2018 by the editorial team

Cannondale Topstone

Product News: Cannondale introduces the new Topstone for 2019. Named after a cross track near Cannondale's Connecticut headquarters, the versatile Topstone is your go-to companion on and off tarmac. It was developed for long tours in rough terrain. In particular, the safe driving position, the agile handling and the non-slip, large-volume tires should distinguish the Topstone. As an ideal tourer, commuter bike for all weather conditions and perfect all-round racing bike, it is particularly versatile.

frame/geometry

The lightweight frame is made of SmartForm C2 aluminum. It offers enough tire clearance for 700C tires with a width of up to 42 mm, which provide plenty of grip on a wide variety of surfaces. A full carbon fork with a tapered head tube and 12 mm thru-axle form a precisely steering front.

The Topstone adopts the comfortable yet sporty seating position from the Cannondale endurance road bike Synapse. The bike also features Cannondale's OutFront geometry. This combines a flat head tube angle with 55 mm fork travel and is intended to ensure stability at high speeds and agile handling.

With cables routed through the frame, a telescopic seat post on the top model, mounting eyelets for storage compartments on the top tube for up to three bottles and enough space for large frame bags, the Topstone is ready for any adventure.

The Canondale Topstone entry-level model is equipped with Shimano Sora 2×9 gears and a Sunrace cassette. Braking is made from a mix of Shimano Sora levers and Promax Decoder R cable disc brakes. Attachments such as saddles, seat posts, stems and handlebars are sourced from Cannondale itself. The WTB Nano tires are mounted on 28 inch CX 2.0 rims.

The Cannondale Topstone 105 is moved on WTB Nano TCS tires and WTB ST i23 TCS rims in 28 inches. As the name suggests, a Shimano 105 switching group is used here. Braking is done with a Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brake and 160 mm brake discs at the front and rear. The saddle comes from the company Fabric. Stem, handlebars, seat post and handlebar tape get Cannondale from their own brand.

Cannondale Topstone Apex1

The top model is equipped with a SRAM Apex1 circuit. Cannondale stem, handlebars and bar tape. The saddle comes from Fabric. The Topstone Apex1 has a TranzX 50mm lowerable seat post. The WTB Nano TCS tires are mounted on a 28 inch WTB ST i23 Light TCS rim. The SRAM Apex1 hydraulic disc brakes slow down the Topstone.

The models will be available from December. The prices in euros are not yet known.
