Archive: Team Lübbering: Successful weekend at the Nürburgring

August 2, 2018 by the editorial office

Team Lübbering: Manuela Freund successfully defends the yellow jersey. On Saturday, July 28.07.2018, XNUMX, the “Rad am Ring” race took place at the Nürburgring. Manuela Freund and Marco Bastiaansen started for the Lübbering team.

In the "Rad am Ring" version, a lap over the Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife measures around 26 kilometers and, in addition to almost 80 curves, also has an altitude difference of over 500 meters. As expected, the asphalt on the racetrack is perfect and offers a lot of grip, especially on the winding downhill sections. Up to 100 km/h have already been measured in the Fuchsrohr. But this is by no means mandatory. What is unavoidable, however, is the ascent to the “Hohe Acht” section, with a short incline of up to 17 percent. Here at the latest, cyclists also understand the nickname "Green Hell", which Formula 1 legend Jackie Stewart gave to the Nürburgring in the 70s.

Manu and Marco fought their way through the 150 km and so Manu was able to just about defend the yellow jersey.
She finished 4th and was able to defend her narrow lead of 8 points over Helena Bieber in the overall ranking of the German Cycling Cup.

Another nice item on the program is the 24-hour Race at Rad am Ring. Here Malte Beversdorff was a guest rider in the 4-person team of Philipps Bike Team Mallorca. The team drove 31 successful laps in a time of 23:44:36 to 3rd place overall.
