cycling: Brain tumor in EWS pro Jared Graves

September 4, 2018 by the editorial office

MTB News / Cycling: Bad news from EWS pro and Specialized team rider Jared Graves. The 35-year-old Australian was recently diagnosed with a tumor in his brain, which is to be operated on in the next few weeks. Then he faces the difficult path through chemotherapy.

Graves informed his fans about the shocking diagnosis on his Instagram account last night. In the past few days he had suffered repeated seizures, one of which was so severe that he was taken to the hospital. It was there that the tumor in his head was finally discovered. In the next 10 days, this is to be surgically removed, followed by chemotherapy.

Some news of the not so awesome variety. To cut a long short story, since getting back home from Whistler I suffered a couple of seizures, and woke up from one last Thursday morning to paramedics taking me off to hospital, where tests and scans were done to discover I have a tumor growing in my brain. So for now more scans and doctors appointments and scans over the next week leading to surgery within the next approximately 10 days. The plan at the moment is to then start chemotherapy. Not sure what else to say for now, it's all hit so fast….needless to say I won't be at the last 2 EWS rounds this year as this new battle begins.
