MTB News: The UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Lenzerheide have come to a worthy and exciting end with spectacular downhill runs. A total of around 20.000 visitors lined the route and the finish area below the Parparner Rothorn on the final day.
The title fights in downhill were opened by the juniors. In the juniors, the young Austrian Vali Höll made the perfect season even more perfect and now also secured the rainbow jersey. In the Junior Men, Brit Kade Edwards confirmed his strong qualifying run and finished on the top step of the podium with a 5-second lead over Canadian Elliot Jamieson. The elite women's race was ultimately dominated by one rider: Rachel Atherton. Although the other riders were really fast, the Brit downright destroyed the STRAIGHTline and the competition with her run. With an incredible run that ended up 9,8 seconds ahead, Atherton deservedly secured her fifth World Championship gold medal. The men in downhill also offered the 20.000 spectators along the route and in the finish area an extremely exciting race. Loic Bruni was able to defend his world championship title and is now allowed to wear the rainbow colors for the third time in his career. Silver went to Belgium's Martin Maes and bronze to Danny Hart of Great Britain.
