Product news: Construction story Orange Stage 6: Seat area – united by saddle, seat post and clamp

28 October 2018 by Christian Ettl

Bike Build Story: The seat area, saddle, seatpost, clamp. As in Part One already explained, we try to build a bike "Made in Europe". Our penultimate Bike Build Story is all about the seating area. Starting with the Fizik Monte saddle, the lowerable Crankbrothers Highline seat post and the ultra-light Tune Schraubstranger seat clamp.

Tune screw choke seat clamp:

Tune screw choke

A seat clamp is the first part of every "tuning fan" in the bicycle sector. It should be chic and very light, the saddle clamp. And in our case also "Made in Europe". Tune offers exactly the right thing for us here. The seat clamp is CNC milled and is available for seat posts with a diameter of 30,0/ 31,8/ 34,9/ 38,0 mm. The clamp weighs only 9,8 grams and is available in all colors.

Price: € 6

Crankbrothers Highline Seatpost:

Test: Crankbrothers Highline dropper post

At Crankbrothers they thought along with the remote. Thanks to the ball hinge, you can run through all ergonomically conceivable scenarios with one lever. Top left? bottom right? Everything can be done in one go. The body of the dropper post, made of 7075-T6 aluminum, is available in two seat tube diameters (30.9mm and 31.8mm). You don't have to be a gifted technician to install the Crankbrothers Highline to get the seat post up and running on the first test. 90% of the assembly is tool-free.

For assembly you only need:

  • Allen key
  • Cable shears
  • carbon paste

The seat post is available in 100 mm and 160 mm travel. The Crankbrothers Highline is priced at 350 euros.

Fizik Monte Saddle:

The Fizik Monte features a strong, lightweight, carbon-reinforced nylon shell with Extended Tail Flex technology - an improvement on fi'zi:k's proven Tail Flex technology, which provides a larger flexible area of support at the rear of the saddle while also providing optimal balance and positioning for control and power development. It also has the new S-Alloy rail, which ensures low weight and stability. A comfort PU foam and a pressure relief channel are used on the surface - perfect for the enduro area and our Orange Stage 6.

Price: € 79,00

In our last part of the Bike Build Story, we will present the complete bike and an overall test.
