Bike Build Story: The cockpit, headset, stem, handlebars, grips. As in Part One already explained, we try to build a bike "Made in Europe". The "Made in Europe" concept is united by the Haero H.175 ED SL carbon handlebar, the Acros headset, the Renthal Apex stem and the Renthal Lock-On Traction grips. Rigidity, performance and durability were also important to us.
Acros Headset:
When it came to the headset, it was important to us that it was durable. That's why we decided on an Acros headset. The Orange Bikes website provides information on which headset we need for the Orange Stage 6. The special features of the headset: The Acros is made of stainless steel, is double sealed and has angular contact ball bearings. In addition, some sheet metal-supported rubber seals are used for the seals. Additional treat - CNC milled "Made in Germany". This protects the Acros headset from water and dirt and thus promises longevity.
Renthal Apex 40 Stem:
The Renthal Apex combines all mountain power, enduro stiffness and XC lightweight. The unique handlebar clamps allow much of the stem body material to be removed while maintaining the strength and stiffness demanded by modern, wide handlebars. Fully CNC machined, the Apex features an oversized center bore, extensive 3-D machining and external webbing to maximize structural strength and rigidity while minimizing weight.
Technical data:
- Length - 40mm
- Weight - 118g
- Ascent - +/- 6°
- Clamp Diameter - 31.8mm
- Steerer Diameter - 28.6
Haero H.175 ED SL Carbon Handlebars:
The Haero H.175 ED SL is the logical addition to the HC MTB family and is thus finding its way into the Enduro sector. The weight was not the focus when developing the handlebars. The developers were primarily concerned with offering enduro riders an MTB handlebar with unique performance and rigidity. They have fully succeeded in this - a handlebar with a width of 780mm, a weight of 140g, a handlebar clamp of 31,8mm, with integrated Comfort-Flex and no weight limit.
Renthal Lock On Traction:
Renthal Lock-On grips feature CNC aluminum locking caps that are firmly integrated into the central core, providing the ultimate all-weather handlebar protection. The integrated construction eliminates any movement between the grip section and the collars that might otherwise develop over time. The handlebar grip is the most important point of contact for controlling the bicycle. A handle that is tailored to individual needs is extremely important. That's why Renthal offers a wide range of blends to suit all tastes.
The Traction grip pattern is designed to provide ultimate control in all conditions. The added mechanical grip of the Traction pattern ensures the bike can stay in control no matter the weather.
We will soon be sharing a complete bike test of the Orange Stage 6 and our experiences with the components.
