Women
Once again this year there is no way for the women in Kona Daniela Ryf over. For the 31-year-old it would be the fourth win in a row in Hawaii and the form is good. In this respect, it would be - as in previous years - a big surprise if the Swiss were not the first runner to reach the finish line on Sunday night.
Men
The chances for the men are somewhat more evenly distributed than for the women. With Jan Frodeno one of the big favorites has to pass due to injury, but last year's winner Patrick Lange has to face stiff competition. The 32-year-old won last year with an impressive course record, but also Sebastian Kienle thinks there's a good chance of triumphing in Kona. In addition, also scratch David McNamee from Scotland and the Australian Cameron Wurf with the hooves. The latter is probably the strongest cyclist and was able to significantly improve his previous deficit, running, over the course of the season.
