Test: If you have dedicated yourself to biking professionally or as a hobby, you will inevitably not be able to avoid one or the other trip. Whether it's a short trip or an extended holiday, a lot of bike equipment has to be safely stowed away. A year ago, the Giant Shadow Gear Bag gave me the impression that it could cope with this task. In use since then and therefore worth a test report from my point of view.

If you have the bag in your hand for the first time, you first have to deal with the division. It differs from normal backpacks that are only filled from above. On the floor there is a separate compartment designed for shoes. Equipped with ventilation openings, the kicks can breathe a little here.
In the middle of the Shadow Gear Bag is the main compartment, which can be divided into two equally sized areas with an integrated divider if required. Thus, for example, dirty laundry can be separated from fresh laundry. You can access this main compartment by opening the padded back area. On the inside of the back area there are even smaller compartments in which you can store accessories, cosmetics or other things.
At the top of the backpack you will find a padded compartment for the half-shell helmet or goggles, which can also be opened separately from the other compartments. The sides of the bag are equipped with various smaller storage options, for example for drinking bottles, tools or other smaller personal essentials that should not be missing on your trip.
The outside of the Shadow Gear Bag with its reflective Giant lettering is particularly clever. This compartment, which runs the entire height of the backpack, is waterproof so that you can transport your wet clothes here. A small hole at the bottom ensures that the water can drain off.
The risers are arranged in the middle of the center of gravity. So you can not only carry the bag on your back but also comfortably carry it in your hand. In both positions the bag is very comfortable. You have to do without a hip belt, a small drop of bitterness if the Giant Shadow Gear Bag is to be carried on the back for a long time or if you want a particularly tight fit.
And finally ...
The Giant Shadow Gear Bag is now one of my permanent travel gear. Whether on a bike trip or a city trip with the family. Due to its many storage compartments, you can always find a way to pack your belongings safely and, above all, in a structured manner. The size is optimal and if you don't fill the Giant Shadow Gear Bag to the bursting point, most airlines carry it as hand luggage.
