Product news: Advent Calendar #6: SDG Jr. Pro Kit

6 December 2018 by the editorial office

With the Jr. Pro Kit, SDG Components is launching an ergonomic set specially designed for children's physique. The set covers all contact points between the young biker and the bike. In addition to a special children's sports bike saddle and slightly smaller platform pedals, it also includes handlebars with a smaller diameter at the handlebar ends - and the set naturally includes screw grips with a smaller outer diameter.

For optimal feel and safe biking, kids need components that are adapted in shape and size. Designed for young mountain bikers from the age of 6, the new SDG Components Jr. Pro Kit contains all contact points between the cyclist and the bike. The Slater handlebars with a width of 650 millimeters and which can be shortened to 600 millimeters should guarantee the young biker ideal support and safe handling. Another special feature of the child-friendly handlebar is the outer diameter of the handlebar ends, which is 19 millimeters instead of the usual 22,2 millimeters. The Slater screw grips, which are also included in the set, are used to match, which allow the child to grip firmly thanks to the outer diameter of 25 to 26 millimeters. For comparison: in adults, the outer diameter of handles is usually 31 to 33 millimeters.

The Jr. Pro Kit from SDG Components includes Slater plastic flat pedals with a surface area of 90 x 90 mm so that the youngsters have a good footing. Sealed plain bearings promise a long service life, the pins can be replaced if necessary. The component specialist has also given some thought to the saddle. The Fly Jr. saddle, which is equipped with Cordura edge protection, is designed for smaller sit bone distances and is therefore narrower and shorter than comparable models for adults. Also included in the set are spacer sleeves for installing standard shift and brake levers. According to the manufacturer, the weight of all components is a total of 895 grams (handlebars 260g, grips 55g, pedals 310g, saddle 270g), the price is 149,99 euros.
