Spectrum: Again and again we stumble upon interesting ideas from the bicycle sector on the crowdfunding platform - today we present you the Monkeycycle children's bike concept, which was successfully funded more than a week before the end of the campaign.
Eight bikes in one? Sounds like a lame promise? In the case of the Monkeycycle children's bike, however, this is the case - at least to a large extent. The bike, which is currently looking for supporters via the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, is primarily aimed at parents or their children who don't want to go looking for the next bike every few months. Especially in infancy, when it comes to the first steps on the two-wheeler, the progress comes at weekly intervals and in just such periods of time, the current beloved bike is already a thing of the past.
The modular Monkeycycle is intended to accompany the kids from the age of nine months until they are six years old and ready for their first full-grown children's bikes. With an optionally available kit, the bike can even be converted into a stroller - all-in-one, so to speak. A cleverly designed aluminum frame and interchangeable axles at the front and rear make it possible. The Monkeycycle can be set up as a balance bike with a low step-through – as the children get older, the bike grows with them by simply turning the frame around. A 1-speed belt drive can also be retrofitted in just a few simple steps, as can mechanical disc brakes at the front and rear. For these, a special lever for small hands is included. In the event of balance problems, replacing the rear axle turns the bike into a trike with two rear wheels. Later, the same conversion can also be done at the front: A fun change for experienced young bikers.
The Monkeycycle has already been fully financed via Kickstarter: Eight days before the end of the campaign, more than 70.000 euros have already been raised. Delivery is scheduled for March 2019. The Monkeycycle is available in different sets - so not everyone has to "buy" all the conversion options if it is clear from the start that they will not be an option.
