mountain bikes: Test: Bulls Copperhead 2 - Sporty all-round talent for everyone

23 December 2018 by Florian Nowak

Test/product news: The new BULLS Copperhead 2 comes for the 2019 model year with a new frame geometry for even more riding fun. The high-quality aluminum frame, together with the Shimano Deore gears, XT rear derailleur and the practical Monkey Link, offers sporty all-round capabilities for everyone at an extremely attractive price.

The Bulls Copperhead 2 has a high-quality aluminum frame, which is particularly convincing with its good workmanship. This should make the frame particularly robust and durable. The geometry of the Copperhead 2 for the 2019 model year was revised together with the professionals from Team Bulls. The Copperhead 2 was further improved through many tests and prototypes and the result is a sporty all-round talent. The solid frame is supplemented by high-quality equipment with Shimano Deore gears and a Shimano Deore XT rear derailleur, which can convince with the typical precision and robustness for which it is known and valued. Braking is done with hydraulic disc brakes from Shimano, which ensure the necessary safety off-road and on the road. Quick-release axles at the front and rear also play their part in safety. The Schwalbe Rapid Rob tires ensure good grip and are also impressive on wet surfaces.

Bulls Copperhead 2 – How to drive!

Even if it gets faster downhill, the Copperhead 2 doesn't lose its smoothness.

Agile, manoeuvrable and yet smooth-running! The driving characteristics of the Bulls Copperhead 2 can be described very well in just a few words. The 27,5-inch wheels ensure good all-round capabilities and make a significant contribution to the bike's maneuverability and agility. Despite all the sportiness, comfort is not neglected either, since the Bulls Copperhead 2 is very quiet even on rough ground. The SR Suntour XCR 32 LOR Air suspension fork is also used here, which does a good job thanks to the air suspension and absorbs even rough bumps.
The Bulls Copperhead 2 is just right for all those who want to start off-road fun or are looking for a bike to keep fit on tours over forest and forest paths or on the road. For additional suitability for everyday use, the Bulls Copperhead 2 offers the option of mounting mudguards, side stands and even a luggage rack. The only negative point in our opinion is the saddle, which after a while was felt to be a bit uncomfortable.

The other add-on parts made of aluminum fit well into the overall picture and make a solid impression. The shifting performance of the Shimano Deore with XT rear derailleur is good as usual. A real highlight are the in-house Monkey-Link attachments. The front and rear lights are easy to attach, can be removed with a flick of the wrist and ensure good visibility, especially in the dark season. The Monkey-Link bottle cage offers easy handling thanks to the magnetic Fidlock mechanism. It's hard to find such good features and performance in this price segment in particular.

The MonkeyLink products…
...ensure good visibility and...
...are easy to handle.

The Bulls Copperhead 2 is sporty.
