General: Marika Tovo signs with GHOST Factory Racing for two years

8 January 2019 by Andrew Waldera

MTB News: The GHOST Factory Racing Team will be strengthened by Marika Tovo for the next two years. The Italian was able to convince in her first U23 year last season with a third place in Nove Mesto, third place at the World Championships and second place at the European Championships. Together with the new tire sponsor MAXXIS, the team from Waldsassen is aiming for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

New to GHOST Factory Racing: Marika Tovo

The GHOST Factory Racing Team has been competing internationally as an all-female GHOST team since 2011. Last season was the most successful year so far with no fewer than seven wins in seven World Cup races, one XCE World Cup win, numerous national championship titles, one European Championship title and World Championship medals. True to the motto "never change a running system", the team will continue to focus on consistency in the future. There is only one change for the new season. In the next two years, in addition to the existing team around Barbara Benko (Hungary), Anne Terpstra (Netherlands), Sina Frei (Switzerland) and Lisa Pasteiner (Austria), the Italian Marika Tovo from Montebello Vicentino will also join the team from Waldsassen to start.

“We changed a lot for 2018 and looking back, those were the right decisions. With the new and younger squad, we've really been able to take more than a step forward. There are still a few changes going on in the background that allow us to work even more professionally and offer the athletes even better training opportunities. That's why we're sticking to our strategy, in 2019 we will attack with our young women's team and look forward to our new athlete" - Thomas Wickles, Team Manager GHOST Factory Racing

The GHOST Factory Racing Team 2019

Another novelty concerns the sponsorship: The GHOST Factory Racing Team will be running on MAXXIS tires in the future. The team completed the first tests in December as part of a specially scheduled training camp. The new racing season traditionally begins for the GHOST women's team together in Cyprus in February with the Cyprus Sunshine Cup.
