cycling: End of the e-bike rear motor? GO Swiss Drive strikes the sails after BionX.

20 January 2019 by the editorial office

The rear motor was probably the most commonly installed drive in the early days of e-bikes, but after the Canadian manufacturer BionX recently withdrew from the European market, the Swiss drive manufacturer GO Swiss Drive is now finally giving up.

Brands like Youmo will be hit hard by the closure.

The dissolution of the two companies GO SwissDrive AG and GO SwissDrive GmbH has been decided since the last shareholders' meeting. The sole shareholder, the German Ortlinghaus Group, has decided to end all electromobility activities. The press release states: “We continue to be convinced of the GO SwissDrive drive system. On the other hand, further development with new functions and app connections, which customers in the premium segment naturally expect today and in the future, represents an increasingly high level of effort. In a price-sensitive market environment, these additional investments are difficult to reflect economically in the long term. We regret this step and would like to thank all manufacturers, dealers and end customers for the trust they have placed in the GO SwissDrive brand.”

What impact does this have on the warranty and procurement of spare parts?

After February 11.2.2019, 2019, orders for spare parts, service and repair work can be placed as before with GO SwissDrive AG in Gams (Switzerland) and GO SwissDrive GmbH, Wermelskirchen, up to and including December 2020. From January XNUMX, all warranty - and service inquiries within the contractually guaranteed period via Ortlinghaus GmbH based in Gams (Switzerland).

Orderly liquidation instead of bankruptcy.

According to the Ortlinghaus Group, GO SwissDrive AG and GO SwissDrive GmbH are to be dissolved in an orderly manner within the next twelve months. The parent company emphasizes that this is not an insolvency. “We will fulfill our contractually agreed obligations, as well as the execution of service and warranties during the contractually agreed period. In addition, we offer the option of placing last order orders with a 12 month warranty. Required materials can be sent via email until February 11, 2019 ppgad@pucrs.br be ordered. Orders for spare parts, service and repair work can be placed beyond February 11, 2019.
