Cycle cross: At the German Cycle Cross Championships, Marcel Meisen in the men's category and Elisabeth Brandau in the women's category confidently defended their titles this weekend. In addition, Tom Lindner in the juniors and Emma Eydt in the women's U23 class were able to celebrate. There was a curiosity among the U23 men: Luca Bockelmann was awarded victory after Maximilian Möbis was disqualified.
Marcel Meisen celebrates his third triumph in a row
For the fourth time Marcel Meisen has secured the German championship in cyclocross. The 30-year-old gave the competition no chance again on Sunday. On the 2,9-kilometre lap in Kleinmachnow, Marcel Meisen pulled away from the start - and didn't let anyone get close. Manuel Müller secured second place ahead of Sascha Weber, more than a minute behind.
Marcel Meisen:
“I had to try to get away as quickly as possible. I attacked straight away on the second lap. That worked very well. I drove the first half of the race at a good pace. After that I went for safety and got through the technical sections cleanly and without making any mistakes.”

Elisabeth Brandau in front of Hanka Kupfernagel
Hanka Kupfernagel has made an excellent comeback after a two-year absence. At the German Cycle Cross Championships in Kleinmachnow, the four-time world champion took silver ahead of Stefanie Paul. Only Elisabeth Brandau was faster. The 33-year-old finished almost a minute before the competition and thus defended her title from the previous year.
Elizabeth Brandau:
“I didn't expect this good start to the race. Nevertheless, of course I was under pressure. With Hanka at the start it makes you a little more nervous. I just tried to stay focused.”

Change error: Maximilian Möbis misses title defense
The U23 class also competed for gold, silver and bronze in Kleinmachnow. As in the previous year, Maximilian Möbis should be the first to cross the finish line. This time, however, he was not presented with the coveted German championship jersey. The reason: He previously made a mistake when switching, which resulted in a disqualification. Therefore, the actually second-placed Luca Bockelmann can now adorn himself with the jersey.
