Test: If you really want to venture off-road for the first time or are simply looking for a new mountain bike, you should take a closer look at the Bulls Bushtail 27,5. With a good aluminum frame and solid equipment, the bike is ideal for beginners who finally want to try off-road riding.
Bulls Bushtail 27,5 - the frame
The Bulls Bushtail 27,5 comes with a fairly balanced, yet sporty geometry that is tailored to a wide range of off-road use. With a few spacers under the stem you can sit more upright and thus relax your posture a bit. If you take them away from under the handlebars, you get a noticeable one sportier Position; the top tube gives a good stretch and the head tube is not too high, so you can sit quite flat. Nevertheless, everything moves in a range that should be suitable for beginners and more relaxed drivers. The aluminum frame is well made and makes a high-quality, robust impression - with a bushtail you should experience lasting driving pleasure. The partly internally routed cables create a clean look that also improves the overall impression.
Bulls Bushtail 27,5 – the equipment
In order to have a lot of fun with a bike, you need not only a good frame but also the right equipment. The Bulls Bushtail 27,5 can do both. The solid Shimano gear mix with Acera rear derailleur shifts the 3×8 gears cleanly; The Suntour suspension fork, an XCM DS HLO, offers a full 100 mm of travel and makes a good impression on rough routes. Rough impacts are properly buffered, which of course benefits the comfort in particular. The hydraulic disc brakes should provide the necessary safety in all typical driving situations. The new Supero tires promise good grip even on wet surfaces and slippery forest floors.
A small highlight on the Bulls Bushtail 27,5 are the in-house MonkeyLink attachments. The front and rear lights are easy to attach, can be removed with a flick of the wrist and ensure good visibility, especially in the dark season. The MonkeyLink bottle cage offers easy handling thanks to the magnetic mechanism.
Bulls Bushtail 27,5 – off-road fun for beginners
But enough theory, let's get down to practice! The Bulls Bushtail 27,5 offers good prerequisites for venturing off-road at a very reasonable price. It doesn't matter whether you want to keep fit on a mountain bike, go on longer day tours or simply want to discover new routes: With this bike, beginners can gain their first off-road experience. This is particularly due to the well-balanced, sporty geometry, which gave us a lot of pleasure during the test. You can also really step on the gas with the bushtail. The Shimano gears offer enough bandwidth for routes of all kinds; even steeper climbs are no problem. The disc brakes and the suspension fork, which in combination with the tires ensure a safe feeling, take over when going downhill. Thanks to the long spring deflection, we were able to tackle one or the other trail, but the suspension also came in handy on flat sections. Because despite all the sportiness, comfort must not be missing.
