Cycling: The Deutschland Tour 1 ends on September 2019st. Just a few hours before the professional cyclists, everyone can enjoy the great atmosphere in Erfurt. Registration for the amateur race starts tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
Germany Tour Open Race: 52 km or 105 km?
The starting gun for the amateur race of the 2019 Deutschland Tour will be fired on Erfurt Cathedral Square . The route is entirely up to the participants, who can choose between a shorter and a longer course. The shorter route covers 52 kilometers along the foothills of the Thuringian Forest. The more challenging 105-kilometer loop includes a climb in the Thuringian Forest. Following the Gera River, the amateur cyclists leave the state capital heading south, passing through the hometown of sprinter Marcel Kittel . The shorter route completes one lap with 500 meters of elevation gain. The more ambitious riders, on the other hand, will have around 1.200 meters of elevation gain in their legs after the amateur race. They continue south to the winter sports resort of Oberhof and then tackle the final 50 kilometers of the professional route to the finish line at the ega, Erfurt's garden and leisure park.

The short course isn't just for road cyclists; for example, it can also be tackled without timing, such as on a tandem.
