Track cycling: The Track Cycling World Championships 2019 have started. The first medals were awarded today in Pruszków, Poland. In the BGŻ BNP Paribas Arena, Emma Hinze and Miriam Welte won bronze in the team sprint.
Team sprint: German men get nothing, Hinze & Welte get bronze
The first decision at the Track Cycling World Championships came in the women's scratch. A large number of riders fell shortly before the end of the race. Franziska Brausse was also able to secure a solid fifth place for this reason. The gold medal went to Britain's Elinor Barker ahead of Kirsten Wild of the Netherlands and Jolien D'Hoore of Belgium. The precious metal was then awarded in the women's and men's team sprint. Unfortunately left Timo Bichler, Stefan Boetticher and Maximilian Dornbach in fourth place just behind the Russians. The Dutch won the world title again ahead of the French. Things went a little better for the German women. Emma Hinze and Miriam Welte could not defend the title, but left the Mexicans behind in the small final and won bronze. The Australians won the final ahead of the Russians.
