General: Bike Transalp 2019 taster days: Get to know the myth by trying it out

March 7, 2019 by Andrew Waldera

MTB News: From July 14th to 20th, the legendary Bike Transalp will once again lead intrepid MTB marathon riders across the Alps. The program this year again includes seven stages with a total of 550 kilometers and almost 19.000 meters in altitude. Those who shy away from the 7-day exertion but still want to be part of the Transalp legend can do so with the taster days offered.

Certainly there is no shame in considering the brutal key data of the Bike Transalp to look at the matter with – shall we say – healthy skepticism. The marathon classic is an event that requires maximum stamina, fitness and psyche - with no ifs or buts. The dream of the Bike Transalp 2019 seems to be reserved for the absolute cracks. With the trial days offered, bikers can also take part in the event without having to put up with the hardships of the seven stages. The taster days offer the opportunity to ride only the first or the first two stages of the Transalp. This means that "normal" hobby riders can also enjoy one of the most spectacular MTB stage races in Europe. Participation is of course outside of the rating.

The Bike Transalp 2019 starts for the first time in Tux at the foot of the famous Hintertux Glacier. The riders can look forward to a real premiere: the path from the Tuxer Joch to the Schmirntal was expanded as a bike trail and will only open in summer 2019. A real mountain bike pass awaits the participants, a panoramic passage at the foot of the Zillertal glacier world with robust uphill ramps and technical hairpin bends downhill. Brixen marks the end of the first stage. The second stage leads from the Panorama Theater of the Dolomites to St. Vigil. Here, too, the riders can look forward to a great highlight with the four-kilometre-long "Jerry Line" through the Brixen Bike Park.

The number of participants in the taster days is limited to 200 starters. The package includes, among other things, the return transfer to the starting point, luggage service, bike park, free catering on the route, technical service on the route and at the finish, medical care and an evening event. The entry fee for the 1st stage is 90 euros per person, for the 1st and 2nd stages 180 euros per person. The taster days can be booked until July 02nd, 2019 at www.online-registration.de get booked.
