E-Performance / Spectrum: Last weekend, around 65.000 visitors transformed the city center of Dortmund into an Eldorado for fans of electrified cycling as part of the DEW21 E-Bike Festival Dortmund 2019 presented by Shimano. With a plus of around 10.000 visitors, the fourth edition was again able to increase significantly compared to the previous year. We also had a reason to celebrate with our own Velomotion booth, where many visitors of the festival gathered to learn more about our magazine and our new sales platform.
The fourth edition of the DEW21 E-Bike Festival Dortmund ended on Sunday evening with a new visitor record. Around 65.000 people visited the city center of the Westphalian metropolis in the best weather last weekend as part of the world's largest festival in the field of e-mobility. There were 150 exhibitors on site, who were not stingy with news about e-bikes in the 10.000 square meter Expo area. Attention was paid to all types of electrified mobility, from cool kids' bikes to versatile cargo bikes and lightning-fast e-racing bikes. The fact is: more than a million e-bikes sold in 2019 and a market share of over 23,5 percent show that nothing works in the bicycle industry without e-bikes. One topic received particular attention in Dortmund: the purchase of used e-bikes via various platforms.
Velomotion bicycle market: The first qualified platform just for bicycles

At our Velomotion booth at the DEW21 E-Bike Festival Dortmund 2019, many visitors got an idea of our team, our magazine and our sales platform. Of course we are pleased that our unique combination of user-friendly market and expert magazine is very well received by the readers. Of course, the high level of visitor response encourages us to continue to work hard on this exciting topic. In addition to the magazine itself, the on-site visitors praised the sales platform for buyers and sellers. The clarity and transparency of the bicycle market with regard to the purchase criteria of quality, condition and value for money scored points.

Exciting e-bike cycling at the highest level
Another crowd puller was the large Shimano Test Area with an E-MTB and E-Urban test course. Interested parties could put their dream bikes through their paces live here. The sporting highlights of the weekend were not long in coming. The CargoBikeRace on Saturday was a real hit with the public. 30 participants showed how nimbly and quickly a cargo bike can be chased over a course if necessary. On Saturday evening, the spectacular Husqvarna Bicycles Night Sprint followed under floodlights on the eMTB test course. Also at the start was last year's winner Guido Tschugg, who had to admit defeat to 19-year-old Max Wegener from Fröndenberg after a fall in the first lap.
The date for 2020 is set!
As every year, the DEW21 e-bike tours were very well received by the public. The program included a total of ten round trips with experienced guides. All tours, whether building culture, mountain biking, pleasure or industry & culture, were fully booked. At the end of the three days, Dortmund's city center was once again really crowded with Sunday shopping. Title sponsor DEW21 organized an exciting family day with many attractive activities. After the success of the last four editions, the date for the 5th edition of the DEW21 E-Bike Festival Dortmund has already been set. From April 3rd to 5th, 2020, the motto in the city of Dortmund will be: "Let yourself be infected!"
