Spectrum: Ghost Recon Ride: The new race format at the Bike Festival on Lake Garda

22 April 2019 by Andrew Waldera

MTB News / Spectrum: The Bike Festival Garda Trentino is adding a new race format to its programme. The Ghost Recon Ride celebrated its premiere last year as part of the Saalfelden-Leogang Bike Festival. However, the extraordinary race is not “only” about flowy biking, but also explicitly talents off the trails are in demand. Among other things, there will be a paddling competition. One thing is clear: the focus here is on having fun!

An action-packed event awaits the participants, which is not about winning, but about having fun. The Ghost Recon Ride starts on May 3rd with a shuttle at the festival site. All participants reach the route at Lake Ledro together. At the start, the bikers receive a map with orientation points and a GPS transponder. Then start in teams of two with enough distance to the next duo. The flowing route around the lake is about 35 kilometers long and is not short on spectacular views. But the participating bikers also have to prove their skills away from the trails. Fun tasks have to be completed at several stations, which require skill, muscle strength and a clever head. One action, for example, consists of paddling a race on the mountain lake. In another task, the participants have to show what they can do with the saw. There are of course points for every action. Those who reach the finish line within 4,5 hours make it into the classification. The minimum age for participation is 18 years or 16 years accompanied by a legal guardian.
