cycling: German Championship: Road DM takes place in 2019 on the Sachsenring

13 May 2019 by Michael Behringer

German Road Championship 2019 Sachsenring

Cycling: As the BDR announced today, the German road cycling championship will be held on June 30, 2019 at the Sachsenring. Among other things, the successor to Pascal Ackermann (Bora – hansgrohe) is determined there.

German Road Championships 2019: 183 vertical meters per lap

It took a long time. But now we know: The German Road Racing Championship will take place on June 30th at the Sachsenring. The women will start their race at 8:00 a.m. The elite men will follow at 11:30 a.m. Thanks to the route approval from the city of Hohenstein-Ernstthal and Sachsenring Event GmbH, the start and finish can be held directly on the Sachsenring. From the total 12,9 km loop 3,5 km are completed on the race track. Demanding challenges await the pros 183 vertical meters per lap.

A route for the time trials is still being sought

After months of searching, the BDR has finally found a venue for the German road cycling championship. The BDR is still looking for a route for the time trial routes for women, men and the U23 class.

BDR President Rudolf Scharping:
“We have to use the attention now to talk to politicians in the federal states and municipalities about solutions on how road cycling can still be organized in the future. More and more municipalities in Germany describe themselves as bicycle-friendly cities. Then you should also be prepared to cordon off a few streets for a bike race once a year, especially on Sundays, free of charge. Otherwise, the unique closeness in cycling, where you bring world-class athletes directly to the people and everyone can participate in this event, will soon just be a nice chapter in the history books.”
