MTB cycling: The MTB Bundesliga classic BiketheRock in Heubach once again offered cycling at the highest level last weekend. The elite races were won by world number one Jolanda Neff from Switzerland and Czech Ondrej Cink. The German champion Manuel Fumic only came in 26th.
The 19th edition of BiketheRock ended yesterday with two premiere victories. World number one Jolanda Neff (Trek Factory Racing) from Switzerland and Czech Ondrej Cink (Kross Racing) won the classic in Heubach for the first time in their lives. The later top 3 of the finish line was already apparent in the first round for the men. Ondrej Cink was able to control the HC race over the entire distance and crossed the finish line with a lead of 35 seconds in front of Florian Vogel (KMC Ekoi Orbea). Third went to Joshua Dubau (Sunn Factory Racing), 1:21 back.
In his own words, the German champion Manuel Fumic (Cannondale Factory Racing) did not present himself as fresh: "I know what we trained last week, so today was no surprise. If you're not fresh here, you can't do anything." For him it was only enough for 26th place.
The women's race offered a lot of drama. In the meantime, it looked like a win for Anne Tauber (CST Sandd Bafang MTB Racing Team) from the Netherlands, who is strong on the mountain. However, a mistake on the descent and a front and rear wheel defect cost her 1st and 2nd place. Jolanda Neff, who was extremely fast in the downhill passages, thus got her first victory at BiketheRock in Heubach ahead of the surprisingly strong Ronja Eibl (Corendon – Circus) from Grosselfingen.
