Product news: As the name suggests, the new Fulcrum Speed 40 DB wheels are all about speed. With a total weight of just 1470 grams, you also get good performance on the mountain.
The new Fulcrum Speed 40 DB wheels were presented with the hashtag #fulcrumfastest. The wheels were designed by Fulcrum engineers from the start as a high performance product and with the aim of meeting the needs of even the most demanding professional athletes. At first, only the tubular version for rim brakes was available for professionals. Now the Speed family has been further developed and now also offers the 40 DB as a disc version and for clincher tires or tubeless.
With the Fulcrum Speed 40 DB, the carbon rims, which are equipped with a surface made of so-called “twill”, particularly stand out. Thanks to the 2-Way Fit technology developed by Fulcrum, the new model can be combined with both tubeless and wired tires. A special production method allowed the carbon fiber rims to be designed without holes apart from the hole for the valve, resulting in a stronger and more robust construction for the most extreme racing conditions. The internal width of the rim is 19 mm for a particularly aerodynamic tire profile compared to the 40 mm rims with pronounced aerodynamics, whose sophisticated shape reaches a maximum width of 26,5 mm.
In addition to good aerodynamics, the focus during development was always on low weight and ease of movement. – Thanks to the use of USB ceramic bearings, you get impressive performance because they reduce the coefficient of friction and eliminate internal friction, so that more energy is converted into propulsion.
The Fulcrum Speed 40 DB thus deliver real professional performance on all levels. The wide range of possible uses is additionally favored by the flexible choice of tires between tubeless and conventional clincher tires. In addition to the discs, these should ensure an attractive overall package in order to offer high-performance drivers the best possible conditions, whether in competition or on the house rounds.
