Product news: : Wahoo ELEMNT Roam - Premium Smart Navigation

1 May 2019 by Florian Nowak

Product News: The Wahoo ELEMNT Roam is the latest GPS bike computer from the Wahoo ELEMNT series. This integrates a color screen and biker-focused navigation for even more driving fun and precise route guidance.

For the 2019 cycling season, the Wahoo ELEMNT Roam is the third generation of Wahoo GPS bike computers. A major feature is the new color screen and extensive Smart Navigation functions. The design continues to be based on the aerodynamic shape of the Wahoo ELMNT Bolt.

With the Roam, cyclists on all terrains are sustainably supported to ride further, more often, longer and more while experiencing new roads and trails. The new Smart Navigation features automatically bring the driver back to the planned route if the driver strays off course. They calculate a new route in a matter of seconds or help to get home as quickly as possible. The clear 2.7" color screen of the new ELEMNT Roam and a battery capacity of up to 17 hours support bikers permanently in terms of navigation, no matter where they are and how long the tour should be. Like all Wahoo ELEMNT cycling computers, the free and intuitive Wahoo smartphone app takes care of the initial setup and complete data management for the Roam.

The computer's new Ambient Light Sensor takes care of the light management independently, switches the background lighting on and off or regulates the luminosity of the screen and the two Quick-Look LED strips to adapt to the ambient brightness. The form-fitting handlebar mount of the ROAM integrates the computer neatly and simply into any bike cockpit.

The Wahoo ELEMNT Roam takes an offensive approach to smart navigation and is intended to make many functions available directly on the device:

  • Get Me Started navigates from the location to the start of the planned tour
  • Back on track redirects you back to the planned route if you get lost, want to try a new route or have to avoid a detour
  • Take Me To allows selecting a target point on the Roam using the new pan and zoom functionality
  • Saved locations provides quick and easy navigation to locations stored on the Wahhoo ELEMNT Roam
  • Route To Start finds the fastest route back to the starting point
  • retrace route leads back to the starting point on the route driven

“More and more cyclists nowadays use their bikes to move on less traveled roads or to explore new roads, paths and trails. That's exactly why we developed the ROAM - a bike computer that meets the sporting demands of the international bike community and also meets the increased demands of cyclists in terms of navigation. With the ROAM, we've expanded the tried-and-tested, intuitive, and easy-to-use of our ELEMNT platform - loved by tens of thousands of cyclists across all disciplines - with precisely the functionalities that make the ROAM a new and even more effective tool for modern bike navigation on and off the beaten track.” – Chip Hawkins, Founder and CEO of Wahoo Fitness

Like the other ELEMNT bike computers, the Roam integrates seamlessly into the entire Wahoo Fitness ecosystem, including the Smart Trainers, the heart rate belt family and the RPM sensors for accurate speed and cadence measurement. Of course, the latest model has the same customizable side views as the previous models, including the Perfect View zoom function for perfect view adjustment of maps and data fields while driving.
