Product news: Bosch 2020: setting an example for the future of bicycle mobility

June 25, 2019 by the editorial office

E-Performance: The e-bike is on the rise and Bosch eBike Systems was and is one of the pioneers and drivers of this market. Together with partners and customers, Bosch has played a key role in shaping the e-bike market. The Stuttgart-based company accompanied the e-bike from the first niche product to the everyday trend. Today, the pedelec has arrived in society.

Bosch 2020: from start-up to one of the leading manufacturers

The beginnings were small: "10 years ago we started with a handful of employees who believed in the pedelec with enthusiasm and a lot of personal commitment," says Claus Fleischer, Managing Director of Bosch eBike Systems. "Nevertheless, none of us would have expected the success story that would develop from this." Right from the start, we thought internationally. After starting on the European markets, the company opened its own branches in North America and Asia in 2014. Today, Bosch eBike Systems is one of the leading manufacturers of eBike drive systems in the premium segment. More than 70 well-known bicycle brands trust in the products "epowered by Bosch".

Bosch 2020: The future at a glance

"Our goal is to continue to develop innovative solutions for bicycle mobility as one of the market makers and to inspire people," says Claus Fleischer. “We are certain that the eBike offers important answers to megatrends such as urbanization, networking, mobility and climate protection. We want to continue to contribute to this with groundbreaking products and services related to connected biking.”

In order to set an example in the field of bicycle mobility in the future and to support further development, the Bosch Group will convert the previous product area into a separate business area. From January 1, 2020, Bosch eBike Systems will be spun off from the Automotive Electronics division. In this way, Bosch eBike Systems will be able to respond even more flexibly to the specific requirements of the bicycle industry in the future.
