Cycling: Marlen Reusser won gold at the European Games in Minsk. The 27-year-old Swiss surprised the competition with her clear lead. In the men's competition, Vasil Kiryienka from Belarus achieved the expected home win.
Men's time trial: Kiryienka defends his title
At the European Games in Minsk Vasil Kiryienka not only a home win, but also the title defense. The Belarusian was already successful in Baku four years ago. This time he left the Portuguese on the 28,6-kilometre circuit Nelson Oliveira by 28 seconds and the Czechs Jan Bart behind by 37 seconds. The Germans Christopher Hatz and Nico Denz took a respectable tenth and eleventh place respectively.

Women's time trial: Reusser surprises them all
With a victory for the Swiss Marlene Reusser only very few would have expected at the European Games in Minsk. After 28,6 kilometers she was 1:15 minutes faster than the Dutchwoman Chantal Blaak. It was much closer in the fight for bronze. The Brit Hayley Simmonds had the happier end by eight tenths ahead of her compatriot Alice Barnes. The German Clara Koppenburg can look forward to eighth place.
