Product news: Orbea Rallon 2020 with new kinematics and more travel

July 5, 2019 by Andrew Waldera

MTB News: For 2020, the Basque bicycle manufacturer Orbea has given the Rallon enduro model a massive chassis upgrade. With an increased suspension travel of 160 millimeters at the rear and 170 millimeters at the front, the Orbea Rallon appeals to ambitious gravity riders who are looking for a powerful mountain bike beyond the downhill area.

The Orbea Rallon is designed for any kind of gravity fun, from use in the bike park to the Enduro World Series. Based on an asymmetrically shaped frame made of OMR carbon with an outwardly shifted chainstay, the Enduro should offer the rider the perfect balance of stiffness, stability and low weight. For the 2020 model year, the engineers gave the Orbea Rallon a chassis upgrade with a new damper rocker, which releases a generous spring travel of a whopping 160 millimeters at the rear. Due to the higher transmission ratio, the Rallon promises an even more sensitive response of the damper. According to the Basque manufacturer, the 20% more progressive end stroke also offers the driver greater protection against bottoming out. The DHX damper can be easily operated while riding, a special reinforcement minimizes the influence of the suspension on the frame.

Despite the increased travel, the bike's frame geometry remains unchanged. Up front, the Fox 36 suspension fork with 170 millimeters of travel, combined with a slack head angle of 64,5°, ensures the best possible steering control on all types of trails. Other features of the frame include integrated cable routing, a threaded bottom bracket, frame protection, a 180 millimeter post-mount brake mount, and sealed Enduro Max bearings. Orbea also offers a lifetime warranty on the Rallon. The large-travel 29" Enduro is available in three sizes at prices ranging from 3999 and 8999 Euro. The Orbea Rallon can also be customized to your liking via MyO. According to the manufacturer, more than a million customization options are available to the end user.

Attention: Older R5 owners can also enjoy the chassis upgrade. Orbea offers the damper rocker for the Rallon R5 model at a price of 249 euros.
