Product news / E-MTB: At this year's in-house exhibition, we were able to examine the entire Cube portfolio for the 2020 season in detail. Of course, this also includes the Cube E-MTBs 2020, on which the new generation of the Bosch CX motor in particular has left its mark. Exciting: In fullies, carbon seems to be slowly replacing aluminum as a frame material.
Cube E-MTBs 2020: New Bosch CX, clever battery integration and 625Wh
With the presentation of the new CX motor, there is a lot of movement in the e-bike market and almost all major manufacturers who rely on the southern German motor are renewing their entire e-MTB portfolio - including Cube. When it comes to integrating the motor and battery, new approaches are being taken and the so-called modular battery system is used. The battery disappears completely in the down tube and is also reliably protected by a special battery cover. A simple push button releases the retaining mechanism and enables lightning-fast battery changes. Also nice: The 625Wh battery can be installed on all E-Fully frames and is usually also available in the standard version.
Cube Stereo Hybrid 120
New frame, new kinematics, new geometry
Despite the new motor and the "chance" to develop a new frame, in the case of the Hybrid 120, Cube decided to leave a lot of things as they were: The well-known bike simply worked too well for the intended target group to make cutbacks here . Nevertheless, a few adjustments were made - the 2020 model is not only visually much more pleasing, but also gets a subtly sportier geometry without becoming too extreme. The kinematics of the rear triangle have also been slightly adjusted and offer a lot of comfort even in the middle spring travel range - so that shocks are also reliably cushioned when sitting down.

First look: Cube Stereo Hybrid 120 Race

Models, equipment and prices
The new Cube Stereo Hybrid 120 is available in three basic variants. They all share the same aluminum frame and all have the new Bosch Performance CX motor installed. The top model Stereo Hybrid 120 SL 29 is only available with the large 625Wh battery, the Race and Pro versions are also available with the smaller 500Wh battery. In this case, the Purion Remote is installed instead of the Kiox display. The price difference here is 300 euros - we quote all prices with the large battery. So if you can manage with less capacity and don't necessarily need the Kiox display, you can deduct 300 euros.
The two all-road versions have a special status, with mudguards, a luggage rack, lighting system and side stand you are fully equipped for everyday use. Since all models share the same frame, all add-on parts can also be retrofitted to the other equipment variants.
Stereo Hybrid 120 SL 29
The top model Stereo Hybrid 120 SL 29 will be available in two color variants for 4.499 euros. In addition to the new Shimano XT 12-speed gears and the matching disc brakes, you also get a Fox chassis with a 34mm Rythm fork at the front and DPS damper at the rear. The wheels come from our own company and, with an inner width of 30mm, offer enough support even for wider tires. Of course, a dropper post should also not be missing - in the case of the Stereo Hybrid 120 SL, it comes directly from Cube. At 24,3kg, the new Cube E-MTB is in the good midfield of comparable bikes.
Stereo Hybrid 120 Race 29
At 3.999 euros, the Hybrid 120 Race 29 stays just under the magic 4000 mark and compared to the top model you only have to make a few minor compromises in terms of gears and brakes. A mix of components from the SLX and XT groupsets is responsible for changing gears, while the groupless MT420 brakes, also from Shimano, are installed. The fact that the crank here comes from Cube's own brand Acid and not from e13 as in the top model should not bother the least. Cube states the weight as 24,4 kg.
Stereo Hybrid 120 Pro 29
The Pro version of the 400mm E-Fully from Cube is another 3.599 euros cheaper (120 euros). The chassis here comes from RockShox and consists of the Recon RL Air at the front and the Deluxe Select+ at the rear. The Sram SX Eagle circuit offers a little less bandwidth than the Shimano circuits of the other two variants, but should still be completely sufficient for most riders. Braking is also here with the MT420 from Shimano with a powerful 4-piston caliper at the front. At 24,9kg, it weighs barely half a kilo more than the top model.
Stereo Hybrid 120 Allroad
An all-road version with full equipment suitable for everyday use is also available from the Pro and Race equipment variants. That means: fenders, luggage rack, lighting and even a side stand are installed. Perfect for longer tours or sporty commuters who don't just cycle on asphalt roads on their way to the office. The Allroad package costs an additional 200 euros and increases the weight by around 400g.
Cube Stereo Hybrid 140
New carbon frame with Bosch CX Gen4
Ciao aluminum frame, hello carbon! In the 140 model year, all equipment variants of the Stereo Hybrid 2020 rely on the completely newly developed carbon (main) frame at the heart of which beats the new Bosch CX motor. The down tube accommodates the 625Wh battery, the Pro entry-level model also has the option of a 500 battery. If you decide to do this, however, you also have to do without the Kiox display. As with the Hybrid 120, the geometry has been revised and is now a little sportier without sacrificing touring suitability. The chainstays are still relatively long: This ensures smooth running and good climbing properties.

First look: Cube Stereo Hybrid 140 HPC SLT

Models, equipment and prices
The off-road all-rounder with 140mm travel will only be available in 2020 as an HPC version, i.e. with a carbon main frame. This is installed in the entry-level model, which costs almost 4.000 euros, as well as in the noble top model, which tears a hole in your wallet that is twice as big. In total, Cube is sending five equipment variants into the 2020 season, with the TM and Actionteam variants stepping out of line. In both cases there is more travel at the front and a more trail-oriented spec. The TM model has a 150mm fork, the Actionteam even has 170mm(!) at the front.
Stereo Hybrid 140 HPC SLT 29
The SLT top model of the new Hybrid 22,1 HPC, which costs just under 8.000 euros, weighs just 140 kg. A look at the equipment also reveals where the low weight comes from: In addition to the new Sram X01 Eagle AXS gears, for example, noble Magura MT Trail carbon brakes, the light and at the same time robust Newmen Advanced SL E30 wheelset and a carbon crank from e13 are installed. The RockShox chassis is appropriate for the price: the silver Pike Ultimate is joined by a deluxe damper – also in the high-quality Ultimate version, of course.
Stereo Hybrid 140 HPC Action Team 29
The Hybrid 140 HPC Actionteam is made for those who would like to really let it rip with the E-MTB. It's not just the eye-catching signature team paintwork that calls for attention, the high-performance Fox suspension with a 36mm at the front and DPX2 at the rear - of course in a factory version - should also draw a few looks. With 170mm of travel at the front, there are plenty of reserves and the new 4-piston stoppers from Shimano's XT series ensure reliable deceleration. With a range of 510%, the 12-speed Shimano gears always have the right gear ready, even for steep ramps. Thanks to Schwalbe tires with a thick Super Gravity carcass and robust Newmen Evolution SL.E35 wheels, the bike is also forgiving of incorrect line choices. In view of this enormously robust equipment, the weight is pleasingly low at 23,6 kg. At 5.999 euros, it's also a whopping 2.000 cheaper than the top SLT model.
Stereo Hybrid 140 HPC™ 29
Anyone who likes to tackle a challenging trail but doesn't need or want a full-throttle machine like the Actionteam, will be happy with the Hybrid 140 HPC TM 29: There's 150mm of spring travel at the front and a Fox suspension from the Performance Line. The Sram NX Eagle circuit is robust, reliable and does not have to hide from high-priced competitors in terms of bandwidth. The Magura MT7 brakes are among the strongest brakes on the market and should always reliably bring the 24,1 kg bike to a standstill. The TrailMotion variant will be available for 4.999 euros.
Stereo Hybrid 140 HPC SL 29
Perhaps the best all-rounder with an attractive price/performance ratio in Cube's new 140mm E-Fully segment could be the HPC SL 29: the Fox Rhythm chassis is joined by an XT/SLX gear mix from Shimano, Cube's own wheels, Schwalbe tires and a retractable seat post. Also thanks to the carbon frame, the weight remains low at 23,5 kg and the price is extremely attractive at 4.499 euros.
Stereo Hybrid 140 HPC Race 29
The entry-level model of the series costs just under 4.000 euros - if a 500Wh battery is sufficient, you can even save another 300 euros here. The equipment is consistently solid and allows no blunders. The chassis made of the new RockShox 35 Gold and the Deluxe damper also works well on the trail, the Sram Eagle shift mix of NX and SX is nothing for the ice cream parlor, but in terms of performance it is hardly worse than significantly more expensive drives. It's also nice that Cube doesn't do without a dropper post.
Cube Stereo Hybrid 160
Carbon main frame with progressive kinematics
As with the Hybrid 140, the well-known aluminum frame of the “big” brother, the Stereo Hybrid 160, has been replaced by a successor made of carbon – but the rear end is still made of aluminium. The bike is also a genuine enduro for the coming season, now with a new Bosch motor, offers 160 mm of rear suspension travel, 170 in front and equipment appropriate for this area of use, right down to the entry-level model. Those who like it a bit more downhill will even find light freeriders in the portfolio with the Actionteam and TrailMotion variants. In contrast to the other E-Fullies, the Stereo Hybrid 160 is only available with the large 625Wh battery.

First look: Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 HPC Actionteam 27.5

Models, equipment and prices
Cube's E-Enduro will be available in four configurations. Like the 140mm counterpart, there is an Actionteam and TrailMotion variant, but in the case of the Hybrid 160 HPC, these don't have more travel than the "standard" versions: 170mm at the front and 160mm at the rear.
Stereo Hybrid 160 HPC SLT 27.5
Sram X01 Eagle AXS, RockShox chassis with Lyrik Ultimate and SuperDeluxe Ultimate damper and Advanced SL E30 wheels from Newmen: Cube didn't save on the top model and is putting an extremely high-quality and, given the equipment, inexpensive e-enduro on the market for 8.000 euros. At 22,6kg, it is also quite light for this spring travel class.
Stereo Hybrid 160 HPC Action Team 27.5
If the already potent equipment of the 160 E-Fully is not robust enough and you like to take the direct line on the trail, you will find the right model with the Actionteam variant. The Schwalbe tires with thick SuperGravity carcass and the SL E35 wheels from Newmen can put up with a lot, the new XT 4-piston brakes and 203mm discs at the front and rear don't give up even on long descents. The Fox Factory chassis can be adapted very well to the driver and doesn't lose its composure even on the most demanding terrain. The precious e-enduro will cost 5.999 euros.
Stereo Hybrid 160 HPC™ 27.5
The orientation of the TrailMotion variant is similar to that of the ActionTeam bikes - at 4.999 euros it is 1.000 euros cheaper. The Fox chassis comes in a performance version and the NX Eagle offers slightly less gear range than the Shimano counterpart on the other models. With the stable Fulcrum wheels and the snappy Magura MT7 brakes, however, you are immediately armed with the Hybrid 160 HPC TM for the most difficult trails out there.
Stereo Hybrid 160 HPC SL 27.5
The entry-level model in this spring travel class is available for 4.199 euros. There's a RockShox suspension with Lyrik Select at the front and Deluxe Select+ at the rear. A mix of Sram NX and SX Eagle takes care of shifting, while the Magura MT Fifty brings the 23,3 kg bike to a standstill on the trail.
