Cycling: Our two Lisas also delivered on the fourth day of the European Road Bike Championships in Alkmaar. While Lisa Brennauer finished seventh, Lisa Klein won bronze. The title goes to Amy Pieters from the Netherlands.
Women's EM road race: Lisa Klein wins her 3rd EM medal
We didn't really expect that. There was no mass sprint in the women's European Championship road race in Alkmaar. Nevertheless, the favorite Dutch women secured the gold medal. Amy Peters won in the sprint of a group of three in front of the Italian Elena Cecchini and the German Lisa Klein. But for a long time it was not clear whether the breakaway trio would make it to the finish line. Behind them, the Dutch women weren't sure whether to put all their hopes in Amy Pieters' legs or whether they'd rather force a mass sprint. Finally, the difficult decision was made in favor of the 28-year-old new European champion. But it would probably have gone well if the mass sprint had been forced. countrywoman Lorraine Wiebes sprinted behind them to fourth place, Kirsten Wild in sixth place. finished seventh Lisa Brennauer.

European Championship road race for U23 men: Bissegger & Froidevaux in the top 10
The U23 men were already on the track in Alkmaar before the women. Unfortunately, there was nothing to gain for the German participants. Nicholas Markl missed the top ten with 18th place, just like the Austrian Patrick Gamper in 51st place. Things went much better for Switzerland. With Stephen Bissegger on the seven and Robin Froidevaux on the eight, two Swiss made it into the top ten. Since both budding professionals are only 20 years old, rosy times are probably ahead for the Swiss. Of course, this also applies to the medal winners. The Italian Alberto Dainese won gold ahead of the Dane Nicholas Larsen and the Estonian Rait arm. Incidentally, the winner will drive for the German team Sunweb in the coming season.
Congratulations to our future riders, @alberto_dainese, on winning the #EuroRoad19🇪🇺 U23 Road Race! 💪🏻
