Cycling: Remco Evenepoel has secured the European title in the time trial. The only 19-year-old Belgian relegated the Danish Kasper Asgreen and the Italian Edoardo Affini to the places at the European Road Bike Championships in Alkmaar. In the U23 class, Johan Price-Pejtersen from Denmark won ahead of compatriot Mikkel Bjerg. The Swiss Stefan Bissinger received the bronze medal.
Remco Evenepoel won for Bjorg Lambrecht
Even before the start of the 22,4-kilometer European Championship time trial Remco Evenepoel announced that he will not be alone on the bike today. He wanted to win the title for his late compatriot Bjorg Lambrecht - and he did it. Together they were considered the greatest talents in modern cycling in Belgium. With a lead of 18 seconds Kasper Asgreen and 20 seconds on Edward Affini the 19-year-old now became the youngest European champion in history. Impressive: With his time of 24:55 minutes, he was 58 seconds faster than the winner of the U23 class - in which he should actually have started due to his age.
Tight race for medals without German chances
The Swiss Stefan Kung should just miss the podium in fourth by just one second. In general, the fight for the medals behind winner Remco Evenepoel was very close. In the end, only twelve seconds separated second and eighth place. The Germans were a little further away. Jasha Sutterlin drove to the 17 and Marco Mathis to the 21st of Austria Matthias Brandle and Johannes Hirschbichler finished 16th and 23rd respectively. Claudia Imhof completes the great result for Switzerland with twelfth place.

Stefan Bissegger takes bronze behind the Danish duo
The German starters also had no chance in the U23 time trial. For John Hodapp and Janis Peter the performance was only sufficient for rank 31 or 37. The Austrians Markus Wildauer and Patrick Gamper still achieved a respectable result with places 15 and 17. But the duo from Switzerland was even better. While Mauro Schmid in eleventh place just missed the top ten, secured himself Stephen Bissegger Bronze. He missed silver by just two seconds and the European title by 13. Only the Danish duo was faster. Something surprising could itself Johan Price-Pejtersen before time trial world champion Mikkel Bjerg push through.
Bjerg é Campeão do Mundo de Crono Sub23, mas no Europeu, ele foi prata. Aí or pódio ficou desta maneira.
