Product news: At this year's Eurobike, Pendix will be presenting a new and lightweight retrofit system to equip bicycles with an electric – i.e. built-in – tailwind. The Pendix eDrive150 is smaller, lighter and cheaper than its "big brothers" eDrive300 and 500 and is primarily aimed at short-distance drivers.
The Eurobike in Friedrichshafen is just around the corner and many manufacturers are already giving a first glimpse of their latest products for the coming season. The retrofit specialist Pendix from Zwickau has also not been idle in recent months. With the new Pendix eDrive150, the existing range has been expanded to include a retrofit system that is not only smaller and lighter than the eDrive300 and eDrive500 versions that are already available, but also significantly cheaper at a price of just under 1000 euros.
"Most commuters don't even run out of battery in a day, so we decided to develop this smaller and much lighter version of the Pendix system and offer it as an alternative" - Thomas Herzog, co-founder and CEO of Pendix
In order to make the system even more compact, function and design have been reduced to the absolute basics. According to the information provided, the battery is only slightly larger than a standard half-litre beverage can and should only weigh 1,4 kilograms. With a range of around 28 kilograms, the new Pendix eDrive150 is aimed at short-distance drivers or cyclists who only need selective support. The system will be presented to dealers and end customers at the Eurobike 2019 (Hall A1 / Stand 401) from September 04th to 7th, 2019 in Friedrichshafen.
